Scawfell Genetics Bull Stud
All bulls go into quarantine on arrival
Quarantine – All bulls arriving on our bull stud go into an isolation pen to meet quarantine regulations while they have all their tests, usually for around a month, however, it can take longer occasionally.
If precautionary steps aren’t taken there is a risk of disease outbreaks through artificial insemination of cattle. This is why all bulls remain in quarantine while undertaking health tests.
There is a risk of undetected infections which not only puts all the bulls on the bull stud at risk but also further spread from the semen produced by the bulls.
All bulls on entering the bull stud go directly to quarantine whilst undergoing health tests and remain isolated from any of the bulls on stud to ensure sound biosecurity measures are adhered to.
Scawfell Genetics – cattle genetics works closely with a veterinary service that provides regular examinations of the bulls to ensure quarantine, biosecurity, EU Legislation and animal health is maintained to the highest level.
Scawfell Genetics will apply for your AI license, including test for TB,
Brucellosis, IBR/IPV, BVD and Quarantine tests on Stud.

Biosecurity

At Scawfell Genetics we keep to extremely strict Biosecurity rules ensuring that there is no chance of cross contamination. We follow all the required regulations and take further precautions to make our facility as secure as possible.
Collection

Once on the main bull stud semen collection can begin. Semen is collected using natural collection with a teaser as it offers a higher quality sample with a higher fertility rate than electro ejaculation.
Storage

Scawfell Genetics is proud to announce the opening of it’s new semen store facility on our bull stud in Cumbria. This is a huge opportunity in the development of the scope of our capabilities within the genetics industry.
